SMS memory
I transferred to SMS from a small rural high school in Indiana my senior year. I have two vivid memories of that experience. The first is getting off the bus for the first day of class to be treated by the cheerleaders and the Raiderettes backed up by the pep band. Absolutely incredible (unreal) for a small town kid to experience. The second is going to a convocation where a band comprised of classmates, unknown to me, played Magic Carpet Ride – a spot-on exciting rendition. It took a very long time, but I eventually made great friends including Alan Paegelow, Don Curtis, Mark Merriman, Randy Poole, and Bob “Vance” Dell. Vance and I remain best friends to this day
