Garry Leichliter

Garry passed away on December 23, 2022, in New Lothrop, Michigan. He is survived by his wife Karen, 2 sons and their families and his brother Greg, and sisters Gwen and Gail. After serving in the USMC, he worked for Chevrolet in Detroit and also became an EMT.

I'm sorry to hear of Garry's passing.  He was my locker partner all 3 years at SMS.  RIP Garry and condolences to his family. 🙁🌹🌷🌹

Claudia Le Claire (Fried)

Garry Lynn Leichliter, 71, of New Lothrop,Michigan, began his newest adventure in Heaven on 12/23/2022.

He was born on June 8, 1951 in Wichita, Kansas to Glenn and Almeda  (Smith) Leichliter.  On January 28th, 1973, he married the love of his life, Karen Dee Miller.

Garry served in the United States Marine Corps from 1973-1976.  Garry then went to work for General Motors and obtained his Master's Degree in Engineering from the University of Michigan.  He retired from General Motors in 2008 after 32 years of service.

Garry had a passion for helping people, which came from his servant's heart.  Garry's daily priorities were: God;family; country/ community.  In the churches Garry attended, he ministered whenever there was an opportunity.  He worked hard to provide for every need his family had.  He served his country in the military and his community for many years as Councilman and Treasurer for the Village of New Lothrop and later,as an EMT with Twin Township Ambulance.  His favorite pastimes were music and football.

Garry is survived b his wife of 49 years, Karen Leichliter; Sons, Mark (Erin) Leichliter, and Matthew (Jackie Gobrogge) Leichliter, Grandchildren:Jonathan, Grace, Daniel, Joshua and Ellis; Siblings; Gwen (Jim) Parsons of Kansas, Gail Leichliter of Florida, and Greg (Shannon) Leichliter of Idaho.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held at 2st United Methodist Church of New Lothrop, Michigan.  Visitations are scheduled for Friday, January 6, 2023from 6-8 and 10 Am on Saturday, January 7th followed by a Celebration of LifeService at 11 am EST.  The service will be live streamed via Facebook at the "First United Methodist Church of New Lothrop FB page.  A luncheon will be served following the service at the church.  Burial will be atGreat Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Mi on Monday, January 9th at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requeststhat contributions be made in Garry's memory to Twin Township Ambulance, P.O. Box 303, 7900 Saginaw Street  New Lothrop, Michigan 48460. or to the Hazelton Fire Dept.
