David James Lewis , 62, of Pigeon, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 at the Huron Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe. 

Born in Madison, Wis., on Feb. 10, 1950, Dave was the son of James White and Gloria Elizabeth (Lemmel) Lewis . He graduated in 1968 from Shawnee Mission South High School in Overland Park, Kan., and was a 1973 Cum Laude graduate of Northern Michigan University. On June 13, 1992 he was united in marriage to Jane Lowe at the Caseville United Methodist Church. 

Dave was a former member of Ducks Unlimited, the Whitetails Association, and the Pigeon Lions Club. He was active in previous years with the Pigeon Little League, serving for many years as vice president. As "Captain Dave," he offered the Huron County Fishing Report for WLEW radio. Dave enjoyed clowning as Dusty D Clown and won an award from the Michigan Clowning Association, and also won national recognition in a clowning competition in Minnesota. 

Dave was a Lionel train collector. He enjoyed introducing his son Trevor to hunting. He dearly loved and cared for his family. Dave was a faithful, active member of Salem United Methodist Church in Pigeon. 

In addition to his wife Jane, Dave is survived by his son, Trevor J. Lewis ; his mother, Gloria Lewis of Pigeon; sisters, Diane H. Lewisof Westland and Debbie J. (Gary) Trammell of Howell; four nephews, Luke, Ethan, Nick, and Bryce; his mother-in-law, Ellen (Paul) Lockwood of Cass City; his father-in-law, Dale Lowe of Snover; three sisters-in-law and their husbands; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his father, James White Lewis . 

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 at Salem United Methodist Church in Pigeon, with the Rev. John K. Benissan, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Grandlawn Cemetery. 

Visitation at will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 30 at the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home in Pigeon and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Monday the church. 

Memorials may be made to the family discretionary fund.
