I believe Jack passed away in 1972. I ran into him in Boulder, CO in early 1972 and I read/saw that he was found dead later that year from a drug overdose.

Jack always seemed like a free spirited person. I remember he rode his bike everywhere. I never really knew him very well. The current opiate epidemic has been going on for a long time. I am sorry to hear h e died froma n overdose.

In reverence toJack. Jack was extremely athletic and very intelligent. We became friends during High School, we both drove 55 Chevys, worked at the same job, and double dated often.Jack dated a girl from Center High School so we hung out at Missouri teenage dance clubs quite often. After High School I lost track of Jack until one fall afternoon in 71 he knocked on my door. To this day I still don't know how he found my obscure address in Lawrence. He had just won a settlement from the government due to the fact that he had got hit by a UPS truck in a crosswalk. He was excited about starting a new chapter. After many laughs ,lots of tequila and smoke he crashed on my couch. The next day he told me he was off to Boulder. Sadly, I later found out that he had passed in the summer of 72. Sure drugs killed him but that was not the cause. Jack was an only child and he was extremely tight with his parents. They separated during high school and he never really recovered, his world came crashing around him. It's an insult to compare today's opiate crisis to Jack's death.
