Ted, I am so sorry to hear about Carol's passing.  She was truly a beautiful person and always put others first.  Her smile made people comfortable.  I had several classes with her and she was kind to everyone.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.  May God bless you during these difficult times.

What a storybook life Carol Jo led.  She was beautiful, so smart, and so talented.  She touched many lives as a teacher and as a friend, was married to the love of her life for 50 years, and was a leader in organizing probably the best 50 year reunion possible.  You don't achieve what Carol Jo achieved without also being a very hard worker.  I hope she knew how much and how widely she was admired.  Ted, I am so sorry for your loss.

Carol Jo was such a precious person. I'm thankful I got to sit down with her and Ted at the 50th reunion and have a nice conversation. Prayers for Ted and the family. I will be watching the funeral tomorrow via the website. Thank you for providing that. Blessings and peace in the days ahead.

I arrived at SMS in our junior year, having attended a high school in Ohio that had a culture that did not emphasize school spirit and sports in the same ways.  I was bewildered by the array of uniforms that everyone would wear each Friday and my awareness of Carol Jo was that she was a pretty, blonde young woman who was an enthusiastic participant in these activities.

How my ignorance belied the truth.  And how my ignorance deprived me of knowing this beautiful soul.

In the years since our graduation I lived for most of those years many miles away and distance prevented me from attending the other reunions except for a brief visit to our 40th.

I was aware of Carol Jo's large participation in organizing our 50th reunion and all during that weekend, every time I bumped into Carol Jo she threw her arms around me.  I kept thinking that surely she must have me confused with someone else.  How wrong I was!  By the weekend's conclusion, I realized that the hugs were genuine and how much I had missed in not knowing this talented, dedicated, and loving woman better. Now that she is gone, I despair at lost opportunities and grieve for her family as they must cope with this loss and navigate their ways through a new reality.  My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.  May Carol Jo's memory be for a blessing.

Just watch service for Carol Jo and it was very touching. I sat across from Ted and CJ in study hall. Within a few days they were passing notes back and forth. Laughing and giggling and you could see the sparks fly when they looked at each other. Later in life I realized that I had witnessed TRUE LOVE being born right in front of me. Although her life was cut short, 50 years of true love with her is very special! Ted and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. God Bless

Simply put, Carol Jo was the Ambassador of smiles... you could not talk to her for 5 years and pick right up where you left off. I fully expect to see her in heaven wearing a bigger smile than her earthly one. RIP Carol... grace and peace to Ted and the family. Paul Clark

So many tears of joy reading everyone's rembrances of Carol Jo. You all are carrying on Carol's legacy because, like so many, I am so encouraged by the stories of Carol, even though I never met Carol in person.
