September 29, 2019

Friday, October 4 at 7 PM is the homecoming football game at the beautiful Shawnee Mission South stadium.  SMS will be playing against Shawnee Mission East.  Here's your opportunity to see the beautiful stadium which we could not visit last Saturday because of the rain.  There is an Oktoberfest that evening from 4:30 to 6:30, followed at 6:40 with the coronation of the Kings and Queens.  It should be a fun time for all and we'll get to hear the wonderful band, yet again.

So True!! Hope everyone had fun and felt 18 again!

We've had several requests for contact information for the photographer from Saturday evening. If you'd like to order a class photo, call Chris Wilborn at 816-531-9000!

Attention Raiders, Class of 1969,

I am pleased to announce that on Wednesday evening, September 18, 2019, our esteemed classmate, John Gurche, will be speaking at the Lynda Hall Library (of which another esteemed classmate, Lisa Browar, is the President) on his latest book, "Lost Anatomies."

John is a renowned artist known for his paintings, sculptures, and sketches of prehistoric life, especially dinosaurs and early humans.  His works have been displayed at the American Museum of Natural History, the Field Museum of Natural History, and the Smithsonian Institution.  He has created illustrations for National Geographic and designed a set of four dinosaur themed stamps that were released by the US Postal Service in 1989.  He was a consultant for the movie, Jurassic Park.

The event will take place on September 18 at 7 p.m. at the Linda Hall Library, 5109 Cherry Street, KCMO.  Tickets are free but registration is required.  Registration information may be found at

A meet and greet will follow the event.  I know he'd be glad to see some of his fellow Raiders.  I think we are all extremely lucky to be able to say he is our friend!

10/30/18    From Lisa Browar:   Attention Choraleers and Chanticleers

If your are interested in participating in a quasi-impromptu performance at our reunion in 2019, please contact Lisa Browar or Don Inbody (sorry, Don I just volunteered you) on this site to indicate your interest.

Wouldn't you like to get the "band" back together again?

4/13/19  From Allen Blasco:

We had almost a thousand people graduate in the class of '69. That's a lotta people. Try as I might, I can't recall all the names flying over the transom here, but some of the names with faces have helped. Truth be told, I wasn't in contact with the vast majority of our classmates back in the day. We didn't have classes together, or we didn't form bonds at the time, etc. I'm sure this is the case for most of us here. If I can come to the reunion (i.e.not working) I'm looking forward to seeing old friends..and making new ones. All the best to SMS class of "69!
