I was Elizabeth's best friend. After HS, she got a degree in journalism from KU. She was president of the Students for a Democratic Society during the time of the Chicago Democratic Convention. She worked to stop the war in Viet Nam. She believed in "Make Love; Not War", litterally. She slept with a different man every night, but only if they were against the war. By my calculations, there were at least 700 converts in two years. She was proud of that. Sincerely, Wynne Metcalf

She sounds like an interesting individual with strong convictions! I wish I had known her!

Me too, Nancy... with a class as large as ours, it’s sad we didn’t get to know everyone...Rest in Peace, Ann!

What some people don't know about Ann is that she helped to organize the Lemon Demonstration.  I believe it was Paul Stone that had a lemon stand on a Friday, where he was giving away lemons in honor of National Lemon Week.  The principal called the police, who gave him a ticket for obstructing traffic.  He was told to go wash the lemon paint off his car and didn't come back till noon.  He was then suspended.  Ann spent the weekend organizing the demonstration.  She called all the news channels for coverage.  Our demonstration was reported as far away as the New York Times.

Ann and I didn't agree so much in politics, but she was one of my best friends.  I was one of her childhood friends, to whom she was known as Betsy.
