I was so sorry to hear of Marty's passing so recently.  He was such a nice, friendly guy during our high school years and I know he will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Rest in peace, friend!

Marty was one of the first friends I made after moving to Overland Park and enrolling at Nallwood in the middle of 8th grade. He was a heck of a nice guy and a great distance runner. I completely lost touch with him (and about everybody else) after graduation and am so sorry to read about his recent passing. RIP buddy.

Marty was a good friend -- one of the nicest fellows I've ever spent time with.  He was thoughtful, considerate, and a caring person.  He is sorely missed.  It would have been great to see him in September, at the reunion.  I am lucky to have been his friend, even for a short time.

Our Class of '69 members were/are fortunate to be able stay in touch by whatever means available.  I look forward to seeing you all soon -- Don

One of the nicest people I’ve ever known - talented athlete, humble and ready smile that drew you in.  Blessings Marty!

Marty was my first friend at Linwood School in 1958. I used to cut across Sutherland farm property from my house on Wenonga in Leawood to his house on 103rd..... that's when we lived in the country

Gonna miss him.  Back in the last couple decades we did several trips to Colorado north of Gunnison where his family had a cabin back in junior and high school.  Always super mellow and great to hang out with.

Agree with so many other comments.  A great guy.  Sad news.

I first met Marty in 7th Grade at Nallwood Jr. High. I knew very little kids as I had just moved from a school disctrict north from there. I remember him as a guy who was friendly to everyone he was with, and for me at that time he made me feel welcome and comfortable. During those years and from then on at South he always kept that same calm, welcoming, friendly personality.....a really great guy to know.

Peace, Marty !

wow! Marty must have been sincerely friendly toward newcomers because he was the first classmate in my fourth grade class at Linwood to smile and be friendly! We’d moved down from Winnipeg, Manitoba, in the middle of fourth grade, and I talked differently  from everyone in Mrs. Dodson’s class, and was a total outsider. Marty always had a smile, whether it was on the school bus or in class. One of my classmates told me that Marty had a crush on me because he tried to kick me. 😆 That was a thing in fourth grade at Linwood!😄<>>

I am also sad to hear that he won’t be joining us at our fiftieth! I would have loved to return his friendly, unassuming smile!
